I was worried after booking this hotel via RCI as the review was quite poor. My friend, who works in Bangkok also described the external facade as rundown. Thus I was not expecting much for my one bedroom suite for 4.
Check in on Saturday was done by a jovial RCI staff called Oye. She tried unsuccessfully to sell us tours and breakfast buffet voucher at 200 baht.
The suite was huge after my Korea and Hokkaido experience. Entering the room, we have a sofa set and dining table for 4.
The bedroom has a king sized bed. We requested for two singles which RCI didn’t have.
On the first day, they forgot to set up the sofa bed. Extra pillows or other amenities are charged at 100 baht each. The hotel provides small bottles of shampoo and body washes, disposable q-tips and shower caps, but they don’t provide tissues- highly inconvenient with all the spicy food around.
The hotel, situated at Rama VI Road, is considered far from the shopping belt of Platinum Mall but taxis cost us less than 100 baht to get there without toll way.
There are some eating gems around the hotel. Around a corner, we spotted this small restaurant which serves delicious boat noodles for breakfast at 45 baht. They serves western food for dinner as well.
There is a small mom and pop convenient store two doors away from the hotel, and a restaurant serving Thai fare.
10 minutes walk to the left of the hotel, there is a restaurant selling bbq chicken flanked by push cart stalls which serve the restaurant as well. Our dinner for three including two bottles of Chang beer only cost us 398 baht which included half chicken, roast pork neck, mango salad, oyster omelet and pad thai from pushcarts outside.
The dinner was delicious. There is also 7-11 nearby this restaurant.
So all in all, we are rather pleased with this hotel.
