As I was driving out of Burgundy Hill Estate yesterday, a man, in his haste to catch the bus, dashed across the road right in front of my car. I had to jam my brake. That man did not even bother to look back but just ran straight for the bus waiting at the bus bay a few meters away.
I turned to Ivan, my front seat passenger, and asked if he saw the irony of the situation.
What irony? Ivan asked.
Well, just to save that few minutes waiting for the next bus, he may be knocked down and killed. What’s the irony?
Ivan: He’ll still miss his bus?
I rolled my eyes.
No, Ivan, just to save that few minutes, he’d have wasted his whole life!
