When YES! 933’s DJ 丁志勇 said he would come over to collect donations for Typhoon Morabot victims, I was quite skeptical. For how much would he come over? He said any amount. To make it a good trip, i decided to solicitate for donations from my friends and relatives. If it’s less than $100, I won’t invite him over. It’s been almost three years since our trip together at Turkey and I look forward to having him over for tea.
Mum came to the rescue. Her club, Lioness Club would donate $1000 to the cause. Then another of her friend contributed $100. My sister’s classmate read my blog on FB and contributed $50. Thus, with my own donation, I felt it was a decent figure to invite him over.
His schedule was on Thurs 10/9/2009, 11am to 3pm. It was a mad day for me, with doctor’s appointment from 8am to 10am, then I needed to send Aaron for soccer practise at 12.30pm and facial at 1pm. I could just barely squeeze him in at 12 noon. No problem, his assistant said. Mike decided to take the morning off to photograph. By 12.30pm, he has to leave and he took Aaron along. I cancelled my facial was left to wait at home. 丁志勇 smsed to say they’ll be late. They were coming in a convoy of 8 cars!
At 1.40pm, he finally appeared. All the 8 Mazda cars with huge decoy crowded Burgundy Drive. Cruz jumped down and declined tea. He made a thank you video for Lioness Club (I hope the Lioness Members can understand Chinese!) and promised another visit.
Thank you for coming. Hope to see you again, 丁志勇!
